Are CMH Grow Lights Cooler than HPS Grow Lights? 420 Guide for Beginners 2020

Image
Best HID grow lights  work because of gasses, not wires or chips. The type of gas and chemicals used in HID grow bulbs- like mercury and metal halides- react with each other to give you light. As the bulb gets brighter and brighter, it gives off heat. That heat is pretty intense and will radiate from the bulb. The higher the temperature and the longer you run it, the hotter the bulb and your grow room will become. Now, it should be noted that CMH’s run in the same way standard MH’s run, only they have ceramic bases. However, ceramic metal halide bulbs run a lot cooler than MH and HPS bulbs by about 8°F. An LED ran cooler than CMH’s by at least 2°F, and overall 10°F lower temperature from a higher-powered LED. What is a Ceramic Metal Halide Grow Light? First of all, what are these lights actually called? Ceramic Metal Halide (CMH)? Light Emitting Ceramic (LEC)? Or are they Ceramic Discharge Metal Halide (CDM)? The truth is that all those different names are talking about the same C

What is a COB LED Grow Light? 420 Guide for Beginners

What Is A COB Grow Light? COB stands for Chip-on-Board and refers to the way LED diodes are packed together. With chip-on-board technology, many tiny LEDs are mounted in close proximity on a substrate to form one single module. In essence, they are combined to form a single, extremely powerful, light source. This contrasts with a surface mounted diode (SMD) technology. SMD is how standard LED grow lights are built. Single diodes are mounted individually to a surface. They can be fairly close together, but not nearly as close as the tiny diodes that make up a COB. As a result, SMD LEDs each function as a single point of light. Using COB LEDs as Grow Lights While there still are reasonable applications to using HID bulbs, the advantages of using  COB LED grow lights  outweigh the disadvantages. But the question remails… Does this technology justify the cost? The introductory price of using COB LEDs in an indoor garden is initially higher, but they pay themselves off in

How long should an inline fan be on in a grow room? 420 Guide

Air is invisible, which is probably why many of us forget that it ever exists! Yet we cannot live without it. Neither can plants or for that matter, any other complex living organisms. So when you are planning an indoor grow system, you also need to focus on air supply. This is where reliable grow room ventilation system becomes crucial. Without such a system, your hydroponics grow system is doomed to failure. Growing cannabis in an indoor environment gives the grower much greater control over the vast number of variables that can affect a plant’s health and growth. The movement of air through an indoor grow space is imperative to maintaining a healthy garden, and without proper ventilation, a grow space can face a number of problems, like carbon dioxide depletion and the proliferation of mold and pests. How Does a Ventilation System Affect Plants? The main focus of a grow room is to provide plants with a better growing environment than outdoors. This also means providing fres

What temp should my grow room be during flowering? 420 Guide for Beginners

Cannabis plants like a temperature similar to humans, or a little warmer — not too dry, not too humid. For a lot of indoor growers, that is all you need to worry about. If it feels too hot or too cold for you in your grow area, it’s probably too hot or too cold for your cannabis plants as well. If your grow room feels warm or cold, humid or dry, that is a sign that you may want to look into changing the temperature or humidity of your grow area. Generally, cannabis plants prefer temperatures in the 70–85 °F (20–30 °C) range during the day when lights are on. When grow lights are off (their “night”), cannabis plants are happy with slightly cooler temps. Seedlings Seedlings and clones respond best to higher humidity levels of 65–75% RH as root systems are not yet well-established. Clones and young plants take in moisture through their leaves. Room temperature with lights on should be 20–25°C. Lights off, 15–20°C. The Vegetative Stage: Best Grow Room Temperature The best gr

Can I use a coffee grinder for cannabis? 420 Guide for Beginners

Weed can actually be ground to create marijuana-tea which is soothing and even helps to calm/relief pain or stress which is very common amongst people today. However, to grind and extract the THC-chemical in marijuana, butter or another form of fat must be heated with the tea. Additionally, you can even flavor your marijuana-tea by adding regular tea-leaves in order to create a blended chai-latte or even make a potent-drink from ground marijuana buds by simply putting them into plain hot-water in order to achieve a perfect herbal-drink that is very relaxing. A coffee grinder does it so fast. They are very handy and helpful for anyone with mobility issues or pain, like arthritis (which may very well be the reason you use cannabis)! We’ve put together a list of the  best weed grinders  to use for your bud. What are the Types of Weed Grinder? There are many ways to categorize the weed grinders that are available on the market. One of the most common would be on the basis of how
