Essential Tools for Harvesting Cannabis - 420 Grow Guide

Harvesting Your Marijuana: What Is Harvesting and the Tools You Need!

After you have done the hard work of setting up a suitable environment for your marijuana plants, you need to make sure you harvest it in the right time and not delay it as it can have adverse effects.

What is Harvesting?

The process of cutting the bud (its flowers) of a marijuana plant in order to dry it down to make a smokable substance is known as the process of harvesting marijuana. Once the marijuana plant has flowered to its full potential, the plant’s life cycle is ended by cutting the colas from the plant.

Once you have completed the setup and all you need to do is wait, you need to know the correct time to harvest. Following are some signs that will determine if your marijuana plant is ready for harvesting or not:

Things Needed to Harvest the Buds During Marijuana Growing

Disposable Gloves — Unless you like having sticky hands, have plenty of disposable gloves on hand for your trimmers and for anyone handling the plants.

Tarps — Have clean tarps to lay the cut plants on while you trim and ready the branches for drying.  Yes you could lay plants on a clean sheet or blanket, but leaves and trimmings tend to stick to fabric, so a tarp just works better.

Heavy Duty Garden Shears — How heavy duty will depend on the size of your plants, but many outdoor gardens grow monsters that will require substantial torque to cut them down.

Hanging Drying Racks — If you are short on space to dry your crop, consider these handy hanging drying racks.  They’re lightweight, velcro onto any hanging rod, and provide for lots of air flow.  For a small amount of real estate, they hold a LOT of drying cannabis.  When not in use, they fold up for compact storage.

Magnifier/magnifying glass - This is used to examine the buds.

Working lamp/overhead light-This is usually used if you harvest buds from outdoor growing pot plants or for handling the buds harvested in the drying room.

Paper-This is used to cover the area where you will lay the buds harvested. Newsprint can be used but this type of paper may contain an amount of lead. A plain paper or paper grocery bags is commonly suggested.

Hygrometer (Humidity Meter) - A hygrometer measures a rooms relative humidity. Good quality hygrometers sell for cheap online – it’s better to check and be safe (mold-free dank bud) than to guess and be sorry (moldy trash)

Dehumidifier- A dehumidifier is used to lower the humidity of the drying room. With a humidifier you can drop the humidity in a room to the optimal 45-55% RH range. Some people say that the buds burn unevenly if you use a dehumidifier too much.

Wish you have a successfully harvest.

Have you already grown marijuana? If not, we suggest you to choose a indoor grow kits, the grow kits are simple to set up and makes it easier to begin growing. The first benefit of buying a complete grow tent kit is that it’s compact. Even if you have a small apartment with little closet space, you can set up a complete grow kit there. The second benefit is that you don’t need to go shopping for extra parts. These complete grow tent kits come with everything you need to start growing. This includes all electronics such as lighting with hangers, a inline fan for weed with filters, and other necessities like nutrients for the plants. Finally, grow tent kits are moveable, so you can take them with you wherever you go. This is especially useful because grow tent kits are a big initial investment. Being able to pack up them up with you saves costs of setting up a new growing operation.
