How does cannabis grow?

There are many different ways to grow medical marijuana. Which method is right for you depends upon your circumstances and what you want to invest in time, money and commitment.

Any of these methods will yield good results for a dedicated gardener. However, what you get out of it will depend upon what you put into it. A crop is subject to all kinds of threats, ranging from lack of water, to improper fertilizer, to bugs and animals that will eat it. If you really want good, high-grade marijuana you will have to put a little work into it, no matter which method you use.

Cannabis grows in a variety of climates around the world and can be used in many applications: rope, biofuel, paper, and many medical and recreational uses. The plant is part of the Cannabaceae family, which also includes hops. It is further classified as Cannabis sativa L. Each part of the plant serves a purpose and while the whole of a cannabis plant is certainly greater than the sum of its parts, knowing its parts can inform your experience and appreciation of it.

Growing your own weed is the first step to becoming a real cannabis connoisseur. Luckily, cannabis is quite an easy plant to grow. But if you want some good results it's wise to do some research first.

Starting a grow will help you build a strong relationship with the cannabis plant, and truly understand what this beautiful plant is all about. You need to know what cannabis plants need in order for them to grow into healthy mature plants that deliver good amounts of beautiful and smelly buds. To provide these needs, most growers need to do some preparations first.

The Right Amount of Light
The cannabis plant is relatively self-sufficient because it can make its own food. However, to make that food, weed plants require a good amount of light to convert carbon dioxide into sugars. Therefore, not enough light is detrimental to growth.

A weed plant that does not receive enough light will stretch to get closer to its light source. When this happens, you’ll end up with thin plants that have very few leaves.

On the other hand, too much light can burn and weaken leaves.

The good news is, you can easily control the amount of light that your weed plants receive. If you are growing indoors by using marijuana grow tent, simply adjust the distance of the cannabis grow light. Outdoors, this could be a little difficult to control, but you can position your plants so that they receive direct sun for optimal exposure.

The key factor to remember with the temperature and humidity surrounding your plant is the fact that it should be different during the day (or during the artificial “day” created by your lighting technique) and the night. When the grow lights for weed are on, the temperature should be between 68 and 78 degrees Fahrenheit. This should drop down by about 15 degrees for the nighttime temperature.

Aside from nourishment, light is also crucial for your plant’s transition through its lifecycles. This matters because you need to know when it is time to harvest.

SolarXtreme 1000 - California LightWorks

This is a full spectrum LED grow light that is made in the USA, but sells for a price much lower than other American-made lights.

How did California Lghtworks pull this off? They removed all frills.

What is left is a horticultural light that is easy to use and that was designed especially for grow tents and smaller scale home growing.
