How high should you have your quantum boards from your seedlings? 2020 Updated

You've got grow lights for weeds, your plants, all of your liquid nutrients, and everything you need to grow. You set up your grow tent, set your plants in place, strap your rope hangers to your lights and hang 'em. But before you switch those lights on, are you sure you know how high you need to hang them above your plants? Hanging your Quantum Board LED Grow Light too low can burn your plants, but hanging them too high can leave them stretched and weak. Some grow lights need to be hung far away from plants so they don't get bleached, but some lights are too weak to hang more than 10 inches away- so what do you do?

LED Quantum Boards Placement For Seedling Stage
Seedlings need the least intensity and most distance between the canopy and the lights. You may have the instinct to blast these little guys with high-intensity light to promote fast growth. The truth is, they’re young, vulnerable, and likelier to thrive with a gentler approach.

LED Quantum Boards Distance Chart

How long should I keep LED Quantum Boards on my seedlings?

This gives you four situations.

1) If the cost of real estate is higher, then you want to move things through your space quickly. This means that you will be paying for more hours of light (18 or so) to move crops along.

2) If the cost of electricity is higher but you have plenty of space, then you’ll want to reduce lighting a bit (12 or so hours). This means that your crops will grow slower.

3) If both costs are equally high like they are at our farm here in Laramie, then you’ll find a balance. We give our crops about 14 hours each day.

4) If both costs are equally low, then go ahead and run them fast, at about 18 hours a day. (Just remember to give crops everything else that they need as well, like airflow and CO2, or they won’t be able to use all that light.
